Projects

Organised around the work clients ask for most.

A look through the kinds of curtain, blind, wallpaper, upholstery and full-room projects Free State Curtain Parlour helps bring together.

Durban Project

This Durban bedroom project brings pattern, texture and practical comfort together in a calm, coordinated interior.

Floral wallpaper and matching curtains set the direction for the room, while layered bedding, upholstered chairs and a soft ottoman introduce complementary colour and texture.

In one bedroom, blue botanical wallpaper and coordinating curtains surround a deep buttoned headboard. Patterned armchairs, cushions and a striped bed throw repeat the palette against crisp white bedding.

White plantation shutters provide practical control over privacy and daylight, while the full-length curtains soften the window and add another layer of pattern when drawn.

A second bedroom uses the same botanical wall finish with a curved upholstered headboard, bedside lamps and a mix of floral, striped and small-scale printed cushions.

Mirrors reflect light and make the rooms feel more open, while bedside tables, a timber bench, a storage chest and upholstered seating provide practical surfaces without interrupting the scheme.

The finished bedrooms feel bright and welcoming, with wallpaper, curtains, lighting, furniture and soft furnishings working as one complete interior rather than separate additions.

Bloemfontein Project

This Bloemfontein project uses a restrained neutral palette to connect comfortable indoor spaces with a welcoming outdoor area.

Window treatments, upholstered seating, ottomans and cushions bring softness and function to the rooms, while rugs, side tables and sculptural lighting give each space a clear sense of place.

The bedrooms continue the relaxed palette through upholstered headboards, crisp white bedding and floral bed runners. Warm rust, olive and muted botanical tones introduce colour without losing the calm overall direction.

One headboard combines textured upholstery with a timber ledge and integrated LED lighting. Wooden bedside tables, an adjustable reading lamp and slatted blinds add practical detail around the bed.

In the second bedroom, a broad neutral headboard is balanced by matching timber tables and small white lamps. A patterned cushion and floral foot-of-bed fabric keep the arrangement simple but finished.

In the living and dining areas, upholstered seating, ottomans, cushions, artwork and pendant lighting create comfortable zones for everyday use and entertaining.

Outside, furniture, patterned rugs and large planters extend the same considered approach into a practical area that still feels connected to the interior.

Paarl Project

This Paarl project brings bedroom, living and outdoor spaces together through a confident contemporary interior scheme.

Wall finishes, window treatments, upholstery and layered soft furnishings establish the character of each room, from the statement headboard and patterned wallpaper to curtains, cushions, bedding and quilts.

One bedroom pairs a charcoal feature wall with oversized abstract artwork, an upholstered bed and warm timber side tables. Colourful patterned cushions, a rust-toned throw and suspended bedside lights introduce personality without overwhelming the room.

In the second bedroom, full-height sheer curtains soften the daylight across the windows and add privacy while retaining the open view. A floor mirror, sculptural ceiling fan and layered neutral bedding create a quieter, more textural arrangement.

Furniture, lighting and decor complete the interiors through considered tables, chairs, mirrors, lamps, vases, ottomans and carefully placed finishing pieces.

The living room continues the layered palette through full-length curtains, generous seating, patterned cushions, a rug and rounded occasional furniture planned for everyday comfort.

The same approach carries outdoors, where woven furniture, a hanging chair and textured cushions create a relaxed setting that still feels connected to the interior.

Riebeeck Kasteel Project

This Riebeeck Kasteel project combines richly patterned wall finishes, characterful furniture and collected decor throughout a warm Western Cape interior.

In the living area, detailed wallpaper creates a backdrop for painted shelving, upholstered seating, layered cushions, artwork and carefully chosen occasional pieces.

Olive-painted bookcases frame the central doorway and bring useful display and storage into the room. A deep upholstered sofa, striped cushions and ochre accents add contrast while complementing the antique timber furniture and terracotta floor.

In the attic bedroom, patterned wallpaper follows the shape of the pitched gable and turns the architecture into a focal point. Lightweight sheer curtains filter the windows without hiding their proportions, while a chandelier and upholstered headboard add softness and character.

The same decorative direction continues into the bathroom, where wallpaper, curtains, a textured ottoman, plants and a patterned rug soften the practical finishes.

Repeated greens, warm neutrals, painted finishes and layered patterns connect the different rooms without making them feel identical. Each space keeps its own mix of furniture, artwork and personal objects.

Across the project, furniture, textiles and decorative pieces work together to create a home that feels established, individual and comfortably layered.

Bloemfontein Residence

This Bloemfontein residence uses layered textures, strong contrasts and carefully planned lighting to create a polished interior across several rooms.

The bathroom combines dramatic stone-look wall finishes with twin basins, a fitted vanity and woven storage baskets for a clean but practical result.

A black freestanding bath, matching fittings and a sculptural pendant introduce a strong focal point, while the mirrors and pale surfaces keep the darker finishes feeling balanced.

In the bedroom, curtains, an upholstered headboard, bedding, blankets, cushions, lamps and side tables build a soft, restful scheme around the window.

Botanical wallpaper frames the full-height headboard, and symmetrical bedside lighting gives the room a composed finish. Grey, charcoal and muted blush textiles add depth without making the bedroom feel busy.

The living room brings together generous seating, occasional chairs, tables and a large rug to define a comfortable gathering area. Artwork, decor and a streamlined media unit complete the practical side of the room.

Full-length curtains soften the windows and control the natural light, while pendant lights and warm LED lighting around the ceiling add atmosphere after dark.

Bloem Project Funeral Parlour

This funeral parlour project brings together a calm, considered interior through layered window treatments, wallpaper and warm lighting.

Full-length curtains, shaped pelmets and detailed trimmings frame the windows, balancing privacy with a soft and welcoming finish.

In the reception area, sheer curtains filter the daylight while softly gathered outer curtains add weight and warmth. A shaped pelmet, tassel detail and coordinated tiebacks give the corner window a tailored finish.

The viewing room uses bronze-toned drapery against a patterned feature wall, creating a dignified backdrop while retaining a gentle, comfortable atmosphere.

Decorative headings and carefully formed folds bring detail to the larger curtain arrangements. The fabric falls were planned around each opening so the windows remain balanced when the curtains are open or closed.

Wallpaper, wall units and lighting establish a coordinated backdrop, while chairs, tables, rugs and decorative pieces complete the rooms with practical comfort and carefully chosen detail.

The finished spaces feel composed and respectful, with colour, texture and light working together to create a polished setting for visitors and families.
